Draga & Aurel unveil glass and resin collection at Salone Raritas

Draga & Aurel have introduced Affinity in Light, a new body of collectible design created with Murano glassmaker Salviati at Salone Raritas.

Presented in Hall 09, Booth 08 during Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, the installation explores the relationship between material, transparency and illumination, positioning light as an active force that transforms surfaces rather than simply revealing them.

Glass meets resin
The project marks a new phase in the duo's ongoing experimentation with resin, now placed in dialogue with hand-worked Murano glass. According to the designers, the intention was not to impose form onto materials but to allow it to emerge through process.

Glass records the gesture of the furnace, while resin captures and diffuses light, creating layered visual depth. Concrete elements complete the collection, introducing weight and tactility in contrast to the reflective and translucent components.

New collections launched
Among the key introductions is Soffio, a lighting series of blown glass spheres featuring traditional Murano techniques such as pulegoso, crackle and cotisso. Rather than polished perfection, the pieces celebrate variation and expressive irregularity.

Crisalide uses layered fused glass panels to generate shifting colour transitions, producing forms that appear to change according to viewpoint and light conditions.

Other sculptural furniture pieces include:

  • Stendhal console – transparent pink epoxy resin combined with black concrete columns
  • Lava dining table – circular resin top on a conical salt-eroded concrete base
  • Rive Duo Bench – asymmetrical stacked volumes in black concrete with luminous resin inlays

Salone's new collectible platform
Salone Raritas is the fair's new platform dedicated to rare, limited-edition and special design pieces, reflecting the growing overlap between furniture, art and collectible objects.

For Draga & Aurel, the setting is a natural fit. Their practice increasingly sits between industrial design and gallery-scale experimentation.

Material as narrative
Affinity in Light suggests a broader shift at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, where many launches are focusing less on function alone and more on emotional material storytelling.

In this case, glass, resin and concrete are not simply components—they become the subject of the design itself.
