MoscaPartners explores metamorphosis through Lina Ghotmeh installation at Palazzo Litta

During Milan Design Week 2026, MoscaPartners returns to Palazzo Litta with the latest edition of MoscaPartners Variations, placing transformation at the centre of its exhibition programme. Running from 21 to 26 April, the collective showcase opens with Metamorphosis in Motion, a site-specific installation by architect Lina Ghotmeh, which sets the conceptual tone for the wider exhibition.

The 2026 edition is built around the theme of metamorphosis, approached as a reflection on change, adaptation and the evolving relationship between people, materials and the environment. Through this lens, the exhibition examines how design responds to contemporary challenges through experimentation, technological development and new material approaches.

Installed in the Cortile d'Onore, Ghotmeh's pavilion acts as both threshold and centrepiece. Conceived as a square labyrinth measuring 17 metres per side, the structure is composed of 18 modules that trace the courtyard's geometry while introducing curved forms, shifting perspectives and a sequential path. The intervention contrasts with the surrounding Baroque symmetry, transforming the courtyard into an experiential environment shaped by movement, light and time.

Crafted from MDF and finished with textured pink coatings, the installation includes seating areas, a talk space, a meditative room and an immersive sound environment, alongside an olfactory element designed to evoke Lebanon through notes of cypress, cedar and olibanum. The result is a multi-sensory setting that reflects Ghotmeh's "Archeology of the Future" approach, in which memory, landscape and architecture are woven together.

From the courtyard, the exhibition extends into the Piano Nobile, where 25 exhibitors from 11 countries present a broad range of projects spanning collectible design, industrial production, craftsmanship and material research. Participants include brands, designers, academic institutions and studios working across furniture, surfaces, seating, ceramics, textiles and experimental materials.

Together, the installations position Palazzo Litta once again as one of Milan Design Week's major venues, where historical architecture becomes the framework for contemporary design narratives. Through this year's edition, MoscaPartners reinforces the role of design not only as an aesthetic practice, but as a tool for regeneration, reflection and new forms of living.
