UK kitchen retailer Wren Kitchens has withdrawn from the United States, closing all of its American showrooms and ending a market expansion strategy launched in 2020.
Confirming the decision, Wren said it would redirect investment towards its core UK business, where it reported double-digit growth. The company stated that its US operation, which was run as a separate legal entity, represented around 4% of total group turnover.

Wren said future success in the US depended on expanding its retail estate, but it had been unable to secure terms that would support that strategy. A trustee has been appointed to oversee the market exit in line with US regulations.
The retailer acknowledged the impact on employees and customers, while adding that it would now concentrate on UK expansion plans, including 15 new showrooms and the launch of additional product categories this year.
A notice on the company's US website states that showrooms and studios are now closed, with customers directed to a support form for further assistance.
The move follows the release of Wren's 2025 results, in which the business surpassed £1bn in turnover. However, US sales declined 30% year-on-year to £16.2m, down from £23.2m in 2024.
Wren entered the US market with a flagship showroom in Milford, Connecticut, described at the time as the country's largest kitchen showroom. It later invested in a 252,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania and announced a $30m East Coast rollout, followed by a partnership with The Home Depot in 2024.
The withdrawal highlights the challenges of scaling international retail operations despite significant investment and established domestic success.
