Spanish brand SKLD Studio will present the Arata collection, designed by Valerio Sommella, at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, marking its first collaboration with an Italian designer.
The collection takes its name from the Japanese word for "fresh" and "new", reflecting a design approach defined by clarity of form and a restrained yet expressive aesthetic. For SKLD Studio, the partnership represents a strategic step in expanding its design language through international collaborations rooted in established design traditions.

Arata is conceived as a complete outdoor furniture system, with applications extending across terraces, gardens and interior settings. The range includes seating elements such as dining chairs, armchairs, sofas and loungers, alongside complementary pieces including a daybed, rocking chair, bench and coffee tables.
The design is characterised by a continuous aluminium frame that forms the structural basis of each piece. Curved lines define the armrests, backrests and legs, creating a unified silhouette that balances structural clarity with a softer visual language. This is complemented by a woven backrest detail, introducing a tactile, handcrafted quality that contrasts with the precision of the metal structure.
Materials and finishes play a central role in the collection's identity. The aluminium frame is available in muted tones such as grey-brown and rust, paired with natural-coloured braided cord and upholstered cushions. The combination creates a balance between durability and comfort, supporting both indoor and outdoor use.

According to the designer, the development process began with the dining chair, which served as the conceptual foundation for the wider collection. The resulting forms aim to integrate functional requirements with a cohesive visual identity, where proportion, curvature and material interplay define the overall composition.
Presented at Hall 14, Stand D29, the launch positions Arata as part of SKLD Studio's broader strategy to develop author-led furniture collections that combine craftsmanship, material quality and contemporary design sensibilities.
Through this collaboration, the brand continues to explore new directions in outdoor furniture, focusing on adaptable, design-driven solutions that respond to evolving residential and hospitality environments.
