Design Kiosk returns to Piazza della Scala with editorial programme for Milan Design Week 2026

The Design Kiosk 2026 will return to Piazza della Scala during Milan Design Week, offering an open-air cultural programme that brings together architecture, publishing and design discourse.

Curated by Reading Room, the initiative is conceived as an editorial platform where books, magazines and conversations intersect, creating a daily programme of talks and exchanges running from 17 to 26 April. Positioned as both a meeting point and a reflective space, the kiosk contributes to the wider city programme through a series of evening events.

The schedule features a mix of Italian and international speakers, addressing themes ranging from architectural research to independent publishing and contemporary living. Among the sessions, researcher Bianca Felicori will discuss overlooked architectural narratives in Milan, while Giulia Nardi will present perspectives on editorial storytelling through Cose Journal.

Further discussions include experimental publishing formats explored by NONSENSE editors, as well as international contributions such as Mette Barfod of Ark Journal, and representatives from Magazine C, focusing on design objects as editorial subjects.

The programme also addresses broader spatial and lifestyle themes, including compact living strategies presented by Never Too Small, reflecting ongoing interest in adaptable and space-efficient design solutions.

Taking place daily at 18:30, the talks position Design Kiosk as a platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange, complementing the exhibition-led format of Milan Design Week. By integrating publishing and design culture into a public setting, the initiative reinforces the role of discourse and research within the contemporary design landscape.
