Roche Bobois reports softer Q1 2026 sales amid improving March momentum

Roche Bobois recorded first-quarter 2026 revenue of €87.1 million, representing a decline of 8.6% at current exchange rates and 5.6% at constant exchange rates, as the company navigated a more challenging market environment.

The group said the performance was in line with expectations and reflected softer commercial activity seen at the end of 2025, as well as the existing order backlog.

In France, the Roche Bobois brand generated revenue of €26.2 million, down 5.7% year-on-year. However, sister brand Cuir Center posted growth of 13%, reaching €10.7 million during the period.

Internationally, the North American market remained broadly stable at constant exchange rates, with revenue in the United States and Canada declining only 0.8% on a like-for-like currency basis. Reported revenue in the region fell to €26.6 million, primarily due to euro/dollar exchange rate impacts.

Elsewhere in Europe, excluding France, revenue declined 16.2% to €19 million, with weaker performances noted in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Spain. Overseas operations were also impacted by currency pressures and lower franchise fees.

Despite the softer quarterly performance, the group highlighted signs of recovery in March. Sales volumes at company-owned stores returned to growth during the month, increasing 1.1%, supported by strong momentum in North America and China. The company noted that the US and Canadian markets benefited from the success of its "Design Days" promotional campaign, which drove a 28.3% increase in sales volume during March alone. Meanwhile, the group's stores in Shanghai and Beijing recorded monthly growth of 53.7%.

During Milan Design Week 2026, Roche Bobois also presented its new Outdoor collection at its Milan showroom as part of its continued product and brand development strategy. At the end of March 2026, the group's order book stood at €139.2 million, compared with €122.7 million at the end of December 2025.

Looking ahead, Roche Bobois expects second-quarter revenue trends to remain consistent with the first quarter, while anticipating more favourable currency effects moving forward. The company also noted that its flexible cost structure helps limit the impact of lower sales volumes during softer trading periods.
