Relaunch for Hypsos: company from Schijndel secures future of 115-year-old icon

Just two weeks after the shocking news of Hypsos Netherland's bankruptcy, there is a positive outcome. The Tausch Group has acquired the renowned interior and stand construction company from Soesterberg. With this acquisition, the Hypsos name is preserved, and a significant portion of the craftsmanship and expertise is saved for the sector.

The acquisition brings an end to a period of uncertainty for employees and customers of the 115-year-old company. Although the bankruptcy has left a deep wound in the Dutch creative industry, the Tausch Group from Schijndel sees a strong foundation to build upon.

"No stranger"
Jean-Louis van Aerle, Director of the Tausch Group, emphasises that the acquisition is a logical step. "Hypsos is no stranger to Tausch. We have worked closely together over the past period and know the people, the customers, and the way of working. This is not about starting something new, but about continuing something valuable."

The acquisition means that Hypsos Netherlands will continue to operate under its own banner. For existing customers, continuity is the key word: a large part of the trusted expertise is retained, and where possible, ongoing projects will remain with the same contact persons.

Operational changes
Although the identity of Hypsos remains, operational shifts are taking place. Part of the production will be integrated into Tausch's facilities. Project materials from the large-scale facility in Soesterberg are being moved to a new location. Van Aerle: "In this way, we are carefully bringing together knowledge, capacity, and continuity."

Mixed feelings in the industry
On social media and within the sector, the news has been met with relief, although realism is also present. Industry peers and former employees express their support but also point out the "human costs" of bankruptcy; not all employees can be integrated into the new structure. Cees Onink (Business Development & Strategic Partnerships) characterises Hypsos as a "benchmark" for the industry: "I am glad that the brand will continue to exist, but we also see the costs behind this continuation for the people who now have to look for a new opportunity."

Future vision
The ambition of Tausch Group is to firmly re-establish Hypsos in the market for the future. The company, known for its integrated 'Think, Design, Make' philosophy for museums and brand experiences, is given the opportunity under the wings of Tausch to continue its rich history.

"Hypsos has a history that many are proud of," concludes Van Aerle. "We feel a responsibility towards the employees, the customers, and the craft to handle this carefully."

The Tausch Group specialises in creating strategic brand experiences, ranging from exhibition stands and experience centres to roadshows and office environments. With the addition of Hypsos, the group strengthens its position in the international market for high-quality spatial experiences.
