Umbrella and Wagstaff to spotlight neuro-inclusive workplace design at Clerkenwell

Umbrella Furniture and Wagstaff will transform their Brewhouse Yard showroom during Clerkenwell Design Week 2026 with Journey of Neurodiversity, a sensory-informed programme exploring how workplace design can better support different minds.

Running from 19–21 May at 9 Brewhouse Yard, London, the showcase will focus on "Neurodiversity in the Workplace", combining product installations, talks and interactive activations aimed at designers, architects and workplace specialists.

"We believe design should serve every person in a room, not just the majority. With neurodiversity affecting one in five people in any given workplace, we need to go beyond beautiful objects and ask how our built environment makes people feel. At this year's CDW we hope every visitor leaves with a different perspective on what truly inclusive design can look and feel like," said Matt Clarke, Managing Director, Umbrella Furniture.

The Umbrella+Friends installation will feature eight international design brands: Arco, Wendelbo, Savo, Midj, NINE, Paged, Piaval and Woud. The presentation will bring together products that combine aesthetics, craftsmanship, ergonomics and sensory wellbeing.

Visitors will also be invited to take part in daily Puppy Therapy sessions, offering 20-minute sensory resets, alongside a free architectural LEGO® workshop led by Wagstaff's Fit Out division. The collaborative "London Scene" build will evolve throughout the week.

A further activation, Material Truths: An Upholstery Showcase, will be led by upholstery specialist Jade Ilke, examining circular material choices, refurbishment and ways to reduce harmful materials in interior spaces.

The talks programme will include The Senses and Sensibilities of Designing for Neurodivergency on 20 May, chaired by William Knight of Material Matters. Speakers from Lundhs Real Stone, Lamnaire, Eikund and neurodivergent advocate Piers Roberts will explore how sight, sound, touch and materiality can influence workplace comfort.

On 21 May, The Sensory Office: Designing for the 100% will be chaired by Vanessa Champion of the Journal of Biophilic Design, with contributors including Ambitious About Autism, the Government Property Agency, Oliver Heath Design and Gensler.

Established in 2014, Umbrella Furniture is part of Wagstaff Group, one of the UK's longest-established workplace interiors specialists. The 2026 programme positions the EC1 showroom as a key Clerkenwell destination for inclusive, sensory-led workplace design.
