UK-based design studio Et Lorem presents a refined take on contemporary living with a bespoke in-frame kitchen project that merges modern luxury with classic detailing. Designed for a detached family home in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, the project reflects a growing appetite for "modern classic" interiors that balance timeless aesthetics with everyday functionality.

At the heart of the design is a handcrafted in-frame kitchen, finished in a deep green-brown tone using Mylands Artillery Ground No. 164. The cabinetry adopts a shaker-style profile, elevated through darker hues and contrasted with natural walnut accents. These wood elements appear both subtly, within shelving and cupboard interiors, and more prominently as part of the central island, reinforcing a sense of warmth and material richness.
The island acts as the focal point of the space, combining a cook zone with informal dining. Designed to seat up to four, it integrates practical features such as concealed power sockets, while maintaining a clean, sculptural appearance. Surrounding surfaces are finished in Ariastone Calacatta, a marble-effect material in tones of gold, amber, and soft grey, vein-matched for visual continuity across worktops and splashbacks.
Brass detailing plays a defining role throughout the scheme. Hardware selections, including Belgravia bar handles and T-bars, introduce texture and tactility, while a Quooker Fusion Round tap in patinated brass anchors the wet zone. This is complemented by a Blanco Subline sink in soft white, creating a cohesive palette that bridges cabinetry and surface materials.
Appliances are integrated to maintain visual clarity. Built-in ovens from Miele and a flush induction hob form a streamlined cooking area, while a fully integrated fridge freezer from Siemens supports efficient workflow between storage, preparation, and cooking zones.
Glass-fronted cabinets above the wash area introduce symmetry and light reflection, enhancing spatial balance. Meanwhile, secondary work surfaces and a dedicated breakfast cupboard extend functionality beyond the main cooking area, accommodating activities such as baking, food preparation, and casual use.
Founded in 2020, Et Lorem positions itself within the luxury kitchen sector, working closely with homeowners, designers, and developers to deliver tailored solutions. This project exemplifies the studio's approach: a highly curated blend of materials, craftsmanship, and spatial planning that supports both aesthetic ambition and the practical demands of daily life.
