Heidi Andersen of Lexpo Living:

‘From single items to full container loads, including smaller retailers without large stock commitments’

A Danish furniture supplier operating across Scandinavia, Germany and the Benelux has been gradually expanding its operations from a small village base into a larger logistics setup supporting export-led growth. Lexpo Living, where Commercial Director Heidi Andersen oversees commercial development, works primarily within the B2B segment, supplying retailers with indoor and outdoor furniture through a stock-led model focused on availability and fast delivery rather than bulk commitments.

Rather than positioning itself through scale, the business focuses on flexibility within the mid-market segment, where independent retailers often balance limited storage capacity with fluctuating demand.

Expansion through facilities
The company's recent move to a larger site reflects practical operational needs as export volumes and shipment frequency increase across Europe. 'We simply needed larger and more modern facilities,' says Heidi. The new warehouse allows multi-level storage and a more continuous outbound flow throughout the week.

Despite expansion, the structure remains small. 'We work very much like a small family,' Heidi explains, referring to a team of around 12 employees. This setup supports direct communication and fast decision-making.

The company also maintains a showroom at Woonindustrie in Utrecht, the Netherlands and participates in selected trade fairs, including an annual house fair held over several weeks in autumn.

B2B ordering structure
A large part of operations runs through the B2B webshop, which is fully integrated with the ERP system and has become the primary ordering channel across markets. 'More than ninety per cent of our customers use the webshop on a daily basis,' Heidi notes.

The system provides real-time stock visibility, enabling retailers to react quickly and place orders outside business hours. 'They can place an order at any time and immediately see what is in stock,' she says.

'Orders can range from single items to full container loads, depending on how our customers are set up,' says Heidi Andersen. 'That flexibility is particularly important for smaller retailers who prefer not to carry large inventories.'

Assortment and material scope
Since 2020, the assortment has expanded beyond sofas and recliners into dining furniture, shelving and outdoor collections. 'The catalogue is now around 100 pages for indoor products and about 50 for outdoor,' says Heidi Andersen. 'It has grown quite significantly since 2020, especially as we added new categories like dining and shelving, and in 2025 outdoor furniture.'

Outdoor furniture was introduced to balance seasonal fluctuations. 'We brought in outdoor furniture to balance seasonality,' she says, adding that it helps maintain a more stable year-round flow. The category also includes umbrellas and ceramic pots, designed for flexible indoor and outdoor use.

Material selection remains broad across the collection. 'We work with solid wood, upholstery, ceramics and glass,' says Heidi. 'That variety is important for how we build the assortment, but it also ties into how we work with suppliers.' She adds that sourcing is structured over the long term. 'We are FSC certified, and that reflects how we approach responsibility in the supply chain and our relationships with suppliers.'

Positioning and retail relationships
Lexpo Living operates in the mid-market segment between low-cost suppliers and higher-end brands. 'We are in the medium range and we are not competing with the large chains,' Heidi says.

Pricing remains deliberately stable, avoiding seasonal discount cycles. 'If I offer twenty per cent this month, I would simply be twenty per cent too expensive the rest of the year,' she explains.

Retail relationships vary from independent shops ordering single units to larger partners working under FOB container agreements. Long-standing supplier partnerships, in some cases exceeding 15 years, also form part of the structure.

The company additionally develops selected exclusive ranges for larger retail groups alongside its standard catalogue. 'We are simply trying to find the gaps in the market where we can offer something that fits what our customers actually need,' Heidi concludes.

Lexpo Living will be exhibiting their latest collection at the MESSE C Furniture Fair between 26–29 April, on Booth A-1140. The team looks forward to meeting both existing partners and new contacts, and welcomes visitors who would like to explore the collection, exchange ideas, or simply spark a conversation about current needs and developments in the mid-market furniture segment.
