XXXLutz opens renovated furniture store in Austria

XXXLutz has officially opened a new furniture store in Mistelbach, Lower Austria, following the extensive refurbishment of a former Kika property.

The new location, which opened on 7 May, offers 8,300sqm of retail space across two floors. According to the company, more than €4 million was invested over a seven-month renovation period to modernise the building and upgrade it to current aesthetic and technical standards.

The redevelopment included a redesigned exterior and façade, as well as the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting, updated ventilation and cooling systems, and digital retail technologies. These include electronic price tags, large digital displays, tablets and PCs designed to support services such as customised kitchen planning and product configuration.

The new store is also expected to create 65 jobs within the region.

Thomas Saliger, spokesperson for the XXXLutz Group, described Mistelbach as "the cultural and economic heart of the Weinviertel region" and said the project would provide a boost to the local economy while helping to revitalise a vacant commercial property.

The opening forms part of the retailer's broader expansion and redevelopment strategy, with XXXLutz continuing to invest in former Kika sites across Austria and neighbouring markets. Earlier this year, the company also announced new store openings in Wörgl and Rangsdorf, alongside further investments in employee wellbeing initiatives and digital consumer platforms.
