Hydro is presenting a selection of recycled aluminium design works at ELEMENT: METAL, the latest exhibition organised by Schloss Hollenegg for Design, taking place from 9 to 31 May 2026 in Styria.
Hosted within the historic rooms of Schloss Hollenegg, the exhibition examines metal as both a material and cultural medium, bringing contemporary design into dialogue with centuries-old applied arts and interiors. Curated by Alice Stori Liechtenstein, the exhibition focuses on the evolving role of aluminium within contemporary furniture, lighting and spatial design.

For the exhibition, Hydro is showcasing works by Max Lamb, Philippe Malouin and Sabine Marcelis, each exploring different applications of aluminium through furniture, lighting and installation-based design.
The presentation forms part of Hydro's wider collaboration programme with international designers centred around Hydro CIRCAL 100R, an aluminium material produced entirely from post-consumer scrap. Over the past two years, the company has increasingly explored how recycled aluminium can move beyond industrial use into collectible and contemporary interiors design.
According to curator Alice Stori Liechtenstein, recycling formed an essential part of the exhibition narrative. She noted that Hydro's commitment to sustainability and its ongoing collaborations with designers aligned closely with the exhibition's broader exploration of material innovation and responsible production.
The exhibition also reflects a growing movement within the interiors and furniture sector towards circular materials and lower-impact production methods. As sustainability becomes increasingly central to furniture, lighting and spatial design, recycled metals are gaining prominence not only for their environmental benefits but also for their aesthetic and architectural potential.
Hydro's participation further highlights how industrial manufacturers are increasingly engaging directly with the design world through collaborations, exhibitions and experimental projects that position materials as part of a broader creative dialogue.
Founded as a global aluminium and renewable energy company, Hydro operates across the full aluminium value chain, including recycling, extrusion and primary aluminium production, with operations in more than 40 countries.
