Located near Punchestown Racecourse in Co Kildare, the business, The Elms Home & Living ,will instead focus on launching a new venture, while retaining part of its existing operations. The company's café will continue trading as normal.

In a statement, the retailer clarified that the move follows increased customer enquiries about its future. It confirmed that the furniture division is being phased out, with a final clearance sale underway to liquidate remaining stock.

The company described the transition as an opportunity to make way for a new concept, although specific details of the upcoming venture have not yet been disclosed. It added that it hopes customers will respond positively to the change once revealed.

The decision reflects a broader trend across the furnishings sector, where businesses are reassessing store formats and diversifying revenue streams amid evolving consumer behaviour and market pressures.

Despite the closure of its furniture offering, The Elms Home & Living is maintaining its hospitality arm, signalling a continued commitment to in-person customer experiences.

The timeline for the full closure of the furniture division has not been specified, but the clearance sale suggests the transition is already underway.
