Wilkhahn brings ‘Journey of Dynamic Seating’ to CDW2026

Wilkhahn will present a retrospective and product launch during Clerkenwell Design Week, transforming its London showroom into an immersive exhibition titled A Journey of Dynamic Seating.

It will be held at 45 Great Sutton Street from 19–21 May, where the showcase celebrates more than 100 years of the company's design and engineering heritage while highlighting its latest seating innovation, the WiChair.

Wilkhahn said the exhibition traces its evolution through a curated presentation of established chair ranges including the IN, ON, AT and ME series, all developed around the brand's patented Trimension movement system.

The company describes these collections as milestones in ergonomic seating, designed to support healthy three-dimensional sitting in workplace environments.

Taking centre stage was the new WiChair, designed by Alina Schnizler. Wilkhahn positions the product as a compact and minimalist task chair that distills decades of dynamic seating research into a more reduced form.

According to the company, the chair's visual identity is based on "timeless transparency", using exposed structural logic rather than concealed mechanisms and bulky covers.

The WiChair is also the focus of an interactive Build a WiChair to Win challenge, where visitors were invited to assemble the chair against the clock. Wilkhahn said the competition highlighted the product's 34-component simplicity, with the fastest participant winning a chair.

The exhibition reflected continued demand for workspace furniture that combines ergonomics, sustainability and stripped-back aesthetics, while reinforcing Clerkenwell Design Week's role as a launch platform for commercial interiors brands.
