The Prime Minister was received by Giuseppe Calia and Saverio Calia, who presented the new model and outlined the importance of the upholstered furniture supply chain across Basilicata and Puglia.
Founded in Matera in 1965, Calia Italia said the regional production network continues to support the global reputation of Made in Italy furniture.
Designed by the company's internal Centro Studi, Scialla features low, deep seating and soft padding intended to create an immersive comfort experience. According to the company, the model combines aesthetic appeal with technical innovation.
The sofa uses high-density eco-friendly polyurethane foam and incorporates a pocket spring system made from recycled PET plastic certified to OEKO-TEX standards. The polyurethane is covered with an eco-friendly Microflock quilt, reflecting the company's sustainability focus.
Saverio Calia said: "This sofa embodies the essence of the term 'scialla': you sit down and immediately feel at ease. It is welcoming, soft, and truly invites relaxation."
He added that the company had worked extensively on comfort and technology while maintaining its artisanal identity, describing the model as suited to a more convivial and relaxed style of home living.
Calia Italia said the Prime Minister's visit and the attention surrounding it reinforce the strategic importance of the Italian furniture sector and the company's role as an ambassador of Made in Italy on international markets.
