Anna Maya introduces modular Ginga sofa at Salone del Mobile

At Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, Brazilian designer Anna Maya presents Ginga, a modular seating system that draws on the fluid movement of capoeira to explore rhythm, balance and spatial composition.

Unveiled in Hall 3, Booth C06 within the Brazilian Furniture exhibition organised by Abimóvel and ApexBrasil, the project reflects Maya's broader approach to design, which spans architecture, interiors and product design.

Ginga is conceived as an open and reconfigurable system, allowing individual elements to be rotated, combined and rearranged into multiple configurations. This flexibility enables the sofa to adapt to different spatial contexts, while maintaining a consistent visual language defined by the interplay between geometric precision and organic form.

A recurring motif in Maya's work, the sphere plays a central role in the design, contributing both to its structural identity and to its conceptual framework. Within the collection, this element introduces a sense of continuity and transformation, reinforcing the connection between movement and form.

The project positions itself within a wider exploration of contemporary Brazilian design, moving beyond established visual references to propose a more experimental and independent design language. Through its modularity and emphasis on composition, Ginga examines how furniture can respond to changing spatial and functional needs while maintaining a strong formal identity.

Presented as part of the Brazilian collective exhibition at Rho Fiera from 21 to 26 April, the launch forms part of a broader programme highlighting emerging and established designers working across different disciplines.
