Debonademeo Studio designs Due Sicilie tables for Chroma Composites

Italian design practice Debonademeo Studio has unveiled Due Sicilie, a new collection of side tables developed for Chroma Composites, as part of Milan Design Week 2026.

The collection will be presented at Hub161 in Milan's Porta Venezia district from 20 to 26 April, marking the studio's first project in its new role as art director for the brand.

Originally introduced at EDIT Napoli 2025, Due Sicilie draws on decorative traditions from southern Italy, referencing motifs found across historic architecture, including churches, palaces and public spaces. These influences are translated into contemporary objects through a combination of geometric compositions and material experimentation.

The tables are characterised by essential forms designed for adaptability across a range of interior settings. Their surfaces feature inlaid fragments of travertine, arranged in varying shapes and sizes to create layered, pattern-based compositions. The approach introduces a visual language that balances structure with irregularity, reflecting both historical references and contemporary design sensibilities.

Central to the collection is the use of Chroma®, a proprietary material developed through a process combining resins with stone aggregates and recycled elements. During production, fragments of materials such as marble, metal and wood are embedded within the composite matrix, creating surfaces that reveal varied textures and patterns once completed.

This process, referred to as Mersus, results in unique pieces where decorative elements appear as suspended inclusions, giving each table an individual character. The technique also reflects a broader focus on material reuse, integrating recycled components into the design process.

Through Due Sicilie, Debonademeo Studio and Chroma Composites explore the relationship between heritage and material innovation, positioning the collection within a context that merges traditional references with contemporary production methods.
