The acquisition of 35 Maliterie stores marks a major step in the planned expansion of a new bedding concept in France. The deal, approved by the Lyon Commercial Court, is intended to accelerate the rollout of the retail model, which focuses on enhancing the customer experience in sleep and bedding.
The concept was first introduced in November 2025 as a customer-focused sleep retail approach. It is being developed under the direction of Philippe Salesse and branded as Sleep Creator.

According to Salesse, the former Maliterie stores will gradually transition to the Sleep Creator format over the coming months, working alongside existing teams. He added that the long-term ambition is to develop the business through a new franchise model designed to be more collaborative and aligned with current market realities.
Salesse said the sleep market had reached a "pivotal moment" where traditional retail models needed to reinvent themselves. The announcement follows the financial difficulties experienced by the Maliterie network. In March 2025, mattress and bed base manufacturer GFL, which was linked to the retailer, alongside the Maliterie business itself, entered court-ordered administration under the supervision of the Lyon Commercial Court.
Subsequent reports from French regional media indicated closures affecting the company's factory in Neuville-sur-Sarthe as well as several retail locations.
