JYSK wants to open around 100 new stores in central locations in major European cities in three years. In Amsterdam, at least two new stores will be added, on top of last month's opening.

JYSK is opening two more new stores in Amsterdam.
In addition to Amsterdam, JYSK will soon open new stores in Brussels, Barcelona, Madrid, Bucharest, Dublin, Oslo and Stockholm, among others. With this growth strategy, the home furnishing chain wants to become even more accessible to people who live in large cities.
"With more than 3,600 stores, mainly in Europe, JYSK is already strongly represented and known by many customers. But if we look at the map of Europe, we still see plenty of room for additional shops. Especially in European capitals and other important cities, we want to be even closer to our customers," says Rami Jensen, President & CEO of JYSK.
Before the end of August, when the current financial year ends, JYSK wants to have opened 30 new stores in major cities. The remaining approximately 70 stores will follow in the following two financial years, up to and including the summer of 2028.
Growth opportunities in the Randstad
Last month, JYSK already opened a new store on Van Bleiswijkstraat in Amsterdam, along with three other new stores in the Netherlands. This brings the total number of stores in the Netherlands to 108. The ambition is to grow to at least 140 stores here.
Marco Woudstra, as Regional Head of Expansion, is closely involved in JYSK's ambitious expansion plans in Europe. "In the Netherlands, we also see many growth opportunities in other large cities. We are still underrepresented, especially in the Randstad. With a more compact store concept, we can quickly change that," he says.
Focus on existing markets
JYSK has traditionally been located in small and medium-sized towns or on the outskirts of larger cities. These locations offer space for larger warehouses and sufficient parking spaces, among other things. An average JYSK store is now about 950 square meters in size.
For further expansion, JYSK is now also looking at central locations in big cities, with stores of around 800 square meters. This offers enough space for the entire range, in a slightly more compact store concept.
The expansion is part of JYSK's new three-year strategy, which was presented last September. The focus is on further growth in markets where the company is already active and knows the local market well.
