Corendon has revamped the aisle carpet in its Boeing 737 MAX 9 fleet with a design resulting from a collaboration between aviation, design and education. The pattern was developed by student Nel Dziubińska of ROC van Amsterdam (Jan des Bouvrie College), in collaboration with designer Jantien Nunnikhoven and Corendon. The carpet meets all aviation requirements and was developed with a focus on sustainability and intensive use.

The design translates the theme of travel into a visual composition with eight storylines: desert, music, underwater world, cultural vases, nature, bridges, food and destinations. These elements come together in a pattern that includes palm trees, sea creatures, Amsterdam bridges, fruit, hot air balloons and the contours of the Netherlands.
According to Corendon CEO Gunay Uslu, the passenger experience plays a central role in the project: "Travel does not only start at the destination, but already on board. With this design, we want to make that moment just that little bit finer for our passengers." She also highlights the combination of aesthetics, durability and intensive use in the carpet's development.

The revamped aisle had to meet strict aviation standards and is designed to withstand years of use by hundreds of thousands of passengers. Whereas carpets in aircraft are usually replaced functionally and with little visibility, Corendon chooses to explicitly highlight this element as part of the travel experience.
The project is presented as an example of collaboration between education and airline industry, where functional elements are given space for design and creativity. To mark the launch, the aisle will be symbolically approached as a catwalk, with model and presenter Loiza Lamers taking cabin attendants through a presentation on walking and posture on board.
