Porcelain emerges as top pick for outdoor kitchens

Porcelain has become the leading surface material for outdoor kitchens in the UK, according to Gavin Shaw, managing director of Laminam UK. Once considered a luxury limited to warmer regions, outdoor kitchens and bars are now a growing trend in British garden design.

'Porcelain has become the material of choice for outdoor kitchens because of its exceptional durability and versatility,' said Shaw. He highlighted its weather resistance, non-porous surface, and low maintenance as key advantages for outdoor use. Whether used for countertops, flooring, or dining areas, porcelain is praised for combining aesthetic appeal with sustainability and functionality.

Laminam's porcelain surfaces are available in a wide range of thicknesses, from 2mm to 20mm, catering to diverse design needs. The material is lightweight, easy to template, and features individual craftsmanship using natural raw materials and up to 60% recycled content. The production process is also environmentally responsible, with 100% of the water used being recycled.

The brand emphasises that the stone-inspired look of its products complements the trend of alfresco dining, particularly when paired with features such as pizza ovens. Shaw noted that this Italian stone aesthetic contributes to creating stylish and practical outdoor living spaces that can withstand year-round British weather.

Laminam continues to position itself at the forefront of sustainable surface innovation, aligning its product offerings with both design trends and environmental responsibility.
