Poltronova designs explore a kaleidoscope of colours

During the Milano Design Week 2024, Centro Studi Poltronova returned to the 'Salone del Mobile' after thirty years with a 'Hyper' exhibition to showcase its iconic collection.

The Tuscan brand Poltronova presented the installation 'Hyper Poltronova', designed by Art Director Donatello D'Angelo and inspired by the 1972 exhibition 'L'invenzione della superficie neutra', featuring various radical groups.

In the products, the graphic elements and patterns defining the Poltronova collection lose their three-dimensionality to become surfaces. The change in dimension gives life to a single large pattern, which could be defined as 'neutral' in its heterogeneity, representing a synthesis of the brand's diverse identity. The result is an immersive container of creativity with hyper pop style where one can discover and rediscover Poltronova's design. The visual and performative journey unfolds through environments that recall, in form or colour, the objects on display - more than 20 including Ettore Sottsass jr.'s Ultrafragola mirror, Safari, Superonda, and Mies seats by Archizoom Associati, Gianni Pettena's Rumble sofa, and Franco Raggi's Canton bench.

This year, Poltronova celebrates the 60th anniversary of Saratoga, the line of seats designed by Elena and Massimo Vignelli. 'It's a special occasion to announce the collaboration with one of the most disruptive names in the contemporary design industry. We're talking about Harry Nuriev, the creative mind and founder of Crosby Studio, who is reshaping the fashion and design scene with collaborations with brands like Balenciaga and Dover Street Market,'the brand says.

The partnership with Poltronova sees the Russian artist infusing new 'contaminations' into the Saratoga sofas and armchairs which furnished the talk area of Spazio Maiocchi during the design week within the 'Capsule Plaza' happening. In their geometric simplicity, inspired by the timeless shape of a piano and the interiors of a Jaguar, the Saratoga armchair and sofas will propose the theme of wear, thanks to the customised vinyl packaging-effect upholstery handcrafted by Nuriev.

After the success of the previous edition, Capsule Plaza, a project signed by Capsule magazine by Kaleidoskope and curated by founder and creative director Alessio Ascari together with architect Paul Cournet, returned to Fuorisalone 2024 with 'Radical Sensations' and confirmed its presence at Spazio Maiocchi, a suggestive former industrial cathedral in the Porta Venezia Design District.
