A German furniture retailer has filed for insolvency, marking a significant setback for one of Germany's best-known design furniture brands.
According to reports, insolvency proceedings for Lübke GmbH, formerly trading under the Interlübke name, were opened on 26 April 2026 by the Bielefeld District Court. Attorney Dr. Yorck Tilman Streitbörger has been appointed provisional insolvency administrator under case number 43 IN 321/26.

Based in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Interlübke has long been recognised for premium contemporary furniture and German-made craftsmanship. The business had recently invested in production upgrades, completing a machinery modernisation programme in 2025 to support customised batch-size-one manufacturing.
The company also launched its Start collection in 2025, aimed at attracting younger consumers and broadening its customer base.
German media reports indicate that the ongoing Iran conflict was cited as the immediate trigger for the insolvency filing, highlighting how geopolitical instability and supply chain disruption continue to weigh on European manufacturers.
An investor search is now reportedly underway as stakeholders seek a route to stabilise operations and preserve the brand's future.
The insolvency underscores the pressures facing mid-sized European furniture producers, where premium positioning alone has not insulated businesses from weaker consumer demand, rising costs and broader economic uncertainty. For the German interiors sector, the case is another reminder that even established heritage names remain vulnerable in a volatile market.
