Based in Otterup, the company, JM Rør, has supplied steel pipes to furniture manufacturers since 1978 and has been active as a subcontractor to the industry for nearly five decades.

According to co-owner Thomas Andersen, the collapse was not caused by the Danish core operation itself, but by issues linked to a Polish subsidiary in which JM Rør held a majority stake.

The case highlights how profitable domestic operations can still be destabilised by cross-border ownership structures, financing pressures or losses within overseas units.

The bankruptcy adds to broader pressure across European manufacturing supply chains, where component producers continue to face volatility from rising costs, weaker industrial demand and international operational risks.
