The deal, agreed with administrator Interpath, gives Whitemeadow control of a collection widely stocked by independent furniture retailers across the UK and Ireland. The company said the acquisition offers both continuity for retailers and an opportunity to strengthen relationships across the independent sector.

Whitemeadow described the Westbridge ranges as a strong strategic fit, citing shared strengths in comfort-led design, upholstery quality and commercial appeal. The addition of the former Westbridge models is expected to broaden Whitemeadow's existing portfolio with proven products already familiar to retailers and consumers.

A structured redevelopment programme is now underway, initially focused on four priority models, with the first reintroductions expected as early as next month. Additional ranges are scheduled to return during the autumn and will also be presented at the next January Furniture Show.

Sales and marketing director Daniel Oscroft said the move follows a difficult moment for a respected British manufacturer, but added that the company is focused on supporting retailers currently trading the ranges and maintaining momentum in the independent market.

The acquisition underlines continued investment in British upholstery manufacturing while helping preserve established designs following Westbridge's exit from the market.
