WOW Design introduces Terre ceramic collection shaped by geological processes

Spanish brand WOW Design has launched Terre, a new ceramic collection that explores the relationship between material, texture and architectural surface through a process inspired by geological formation.

The collection is based on the idea of ceramics as a material shaped by accumulation and transformation, referencing the layering of natural strata. Each tile introduces subtle variation, allowing surfaces to develop through composition rather than repetition. The result is a system where texture, colour and material interact to create depth and visual rhythm.

At the core of Terre is a contrast between matte and crystalline finishes. Clay-based surfaces with a soft, irregular tactility evoke traditional ceramic processes, while glazed elements introduce reflective qualities inspired by mineral formations. This duality creates a balance between matter and light, positioning the surface as an active design element rather than a static finish.

The collection is conceived as a flexible system that encourages mixing. Variations in tone, finish and proportion can be combined to produce non-uniform compositions, allowing surfaces to evolve depending on light conditions and spatial context. This approach supports a more open-ended design process, where each installation is defined by its own configuration.

Available in two formats, a rectangular tile and a square module, the range offers multiple compositional possibilities across wall and floor applications. The rectangular format introduces direction and linear rhythm, while the square format provides a more compact and balanced arrangement. Used together, the formats expand the potential for varied spatial layouts.

The colour palette is rooted in earthy tones such as wheat, sienna and umber, complemented by mineral accents including turquoise, pale blue and smoke. These combinations reinforce the collection's connection to natural materials while supporting its emphasis on variation and layering.

With Terre, WOW Design continues to develop a material-led approach to ceramics, framing surfaces as constructed landscapes shaped by process, composition and the interaction of elements over time.
