Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg enjoys building cabinets

That footballers often have unusual hobbies besides their careers is well known. But that Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg (27) prefers to spend his free time making cabinets surprises many. The Danish top player calls it his way to relax.

"As a little boy, I was already crazy about Lego," Dolberg tells in an interview with the AD. "I found building and puzzling fantastic. Now that I'm older, that feeling has actually remained the same, only nowadays I work with wood and screws instead of blocks. Especially building cabinets for my children gives me a lot of satisfaction. It's concrete, tangible, and you see immediate results."

The pleasure of finding solutions
What appeals to Dolberg in making furniture is that there is always a solution. "In football, you sometimes deal with circumstances you can't control. In furniture making, it's different. When you get stuck in a building process, you know: there is always a way out. Finding that solution truly gives me pleasure."

Peace and satisfaction
For the striker, who played in France, Spain, Germany, and Belgium during his career, building furniture is more than just a hobby. "It helps me relax," he says. "On the field, you have to perform under pressure, but at home with wood and tools, I can do everything at my own pace. It gives me peace and satisfaction to create something that is both practical and beautiful."
