China's wood furniture exports saw a substantial 24% increase in the first seven months of 2024, reaching 256 million pieces. This surge contributed to a 9% rise in export value to $13.4 billion, despite a 12% drop in average prices to $52 per piece.

The United States remains the largest market for Chinese wood furniture, absorbing 30% of exports. Shipments to the U.S. rose by 20% to 77 million pieces, with a 5% increase in export value to $3.9 billion, despite a 13% price decline. Germany and the Netherlands also saw significant increases, with exports growing 35% and 74%, respectively. The UK, Japan, France, Canada, and Australia also reported growth in both volume and value, though Japan experienced a decline in average price.
Seating furniture was the largest export category, making up 26% of the total export value, followed by bedroom and office furniture.
