Big increase in Turkish furniture export

In the past six years, Turkey's furniture exports have quadrupled, with approximately $8 billion worth of furniture exported in 2023 alone. Hüseyin Taklacı, chairman of the Turkish Woodworking Federation, emphasised during an interview at a furniture fair in Kayseri that 147 professional chambers and 100,000 traders contribute to the country's economy. He noted that the furniture sector is particularly thriving in cities such as Kayseri, Ankara, Bursa, and Adana.

Taklacı pointed out that 93 percent of the sector's raw materials come from domestic sources. He believes that Turkey's export figures will continue to rise with more support for the sector, noting that Anatolian furniture makers produce items with significant added value.

The Turkish chairman advocated for more research and development centres to assist furniture manufacturers in becoming prominent exporters with their own unique style. He emphasised that China currently dominates global furniture exports, while Turkey currently ranks ninth.
