First edition Design Miami/Paris at L’hôtel de Maisons

From October 18-22 the inaugural edition of Design Miami/Paris took place at L’hôtel de Maisons, running alongside Paris+ par Art Basel. 27 of the world's leading design galleries presented historic and contemporary furniture, lighting and objets d’art, tracing the history of collectable design from the early 20th century to the present day, telling stories of influence and innovation through exceptional, rare and iconic objects from around the world.

Located in one of the most prestigious districts, Faubourg Saint-Germain, the 18th century mansion is an iconic landmark deeply rooted in Parisian history. The lavish hotel was home to several generations of the distinguished Pozzo di Borgo family, as well as celebrated fashion designer, creative director, artist and photographer Karl Lagerfeld.

The event featured a Design at Large program, with select pieces from exhibiting galleries displayed in the historic building and its gardens. Highlights included Jean Prouvé's 6x6 Demountable House, Philippe Starck's La Villette chairs, and Vincent Dubourg's Delta.

Miami Design District introduced "Expression. Service. Essence." by Samuel Ross, a prototype bench encouraging physical engagement in an increasingly digital society.
