Morocco is becoming an increasingly important destination for Italy's furniture industry, with Moroccan imports of Italian furniture projected to rise by 53.5% in 2025, according to industry reporting.

The surge comes as Italian manufacturers rebalance export strategies amid softer demand in some traditional markets. While the United States reportedly saw a sharp decline in January 2026, growth markets now include Turkey, Canada, United Arab Emirates and Morocco.
Italy remains Europe's largest furniture producer, with sector turnover of €26.7bn, ahead of Germany at €21.7bn. Despite weaker exports, the country still maintains a trade surplus of €8.4bn, underlining the global strength of Italian-made interiors products.
The report notes that Italy's resilience is supported by its broad manufacturing base, strong domestic market and diversified product mix spanning upholstery, kitchens, complementary furniture and specialist segments. This allows producers to shift focus quickly when demand patterns change.
Domestic demand has also helped stabilise the sector, reaching nearly €33bn and rising 2%, cushioning slower overseas markets.
For Morocco, the increase signals growing consumer and commercial appetite for premium imported furniture, likely supported by hospitality, residential development and affluent urban demand. For Italian brands, it reinforces North Africa as an increasingly strategic export region during a period of global trade realignment.
