On December 28th, the demise of Habitat was announced by the Bobigny court. 400 employees of the company, founded in 1964, were informed that their employer was declared bankrupt. Cafom Group, owner of the brand, has recently announced the licensing of the Habitat brand to Vente-unique.com. It's plans for Habitat? It will resume its online sales after a hiatus of five months.

Cafom plans to relaunch Habitat with a focus on online sales, leveraging logistical capabilities and the reputation of vente-unique.com, an e-commerce platform of which it is the main shareholder. Customers affected by the previous bankruptcy may receive vouchers for the Habitat.fr website upon its imminent reopening.
Former employees who were laid off during the previous bankruptcy express disappointment over unfulfilled promises of redeployment. Despite the challenges, Cafom remains confident in its ability to rejuvenate the Habitat brand, drawing on its experience with vente-unique.com, while also acknowledging the potential challenges for former employees.
