Second-hand design giant Whoppah launches in France

Whoppah, Europe's largest online marketplace for second-hand design, has officially launched into France. With the expansion into France, Whoppah is now active in four European countries.

Evelien Bunnik-Remmelts, co-founder and COO of Whoppah, says, 'Expanding into France is a significant step in our ambition to become a pan-European design marketplace.' Thanks to substantial investments in a scalable platform over the past two years, Whoppah can rapidly grow in France. 'By making the platform available to French customers, we bring together demand and supply from both within and outside France. This expansion offers lovers of second-hand design the opportunity to buy the best Dutch design; and, for example, to sell vintage design to enthusiasts in other countries. This not only expands the market but also brings more diversity of styles to our platform.'

There is a growing demand for online purchases of second-hand design in France at present. With an internet penetration of nearly 94%, the number of people browsing and making purchases online is significant. It is a country where vintage design is highly cherished, and where circularity is increasingly valued. This also presents enormous growth opportunities for Whoppah. In recent years, the number of French visitors to whoppah.com has also steadily increased, and there are now thousands of active sellers.

Last year, Whoppah took its first steps into the German market and has already shown a solid multi-million euro turnover there. 'France is an extremely important market for us, where we have high expectations. The European network effect, which is crucial for a marketplace, will further help us scale and strengthen our position as the European leader in second-hand design,' says Bunnik-Remmelts.
