Winners of the SaloneSatellite Award 2024

The prestigious SaloneSatellite Award 2024 celebrated its winners in a vibrant ceremony, showcasing the remarkable talent and creativity of emerging designers from around the globe. Held as part of the 25th edition of SaloneSatellite, the event highlighted the convergence of innovation, tradition, and sustainable thinking in contemporary design.

Selected from a pool of over a hundred candidates, the jury meticulously evaluated projects that demonstrated groundbreaking approaches to design while embracing sustainable practices. The winners, representing diverse backgrounds and design philosophies, were honoured for their exceptional contributions to the field of design.

Participation in the 25th edition of SaloneSatellite was truly international, with around 600 participants from 32 countries and 22 international Design Schools and Universities from 13 countries. Notably, this year marked the debut of designers from institutions such as Prince Sultan University (Saudi Arabia), Belgrade Business and Arts Academy of Applied Studies (Serbia), Michael Graves College (United States), and Xi'An Jiaotong-Liverpool University (China), adding a rich tapestry of cultural perspectives to the event.

The SaloneSatellite Award 2024 winners:

First prize: Studio "Ololoo", China
The "Deformation Under Pressure" lamp by Studio Ololoo exemplifies innovative design that integrates shape, light, materials, and movement. Designed by Zhen Bian, the lamp reflects a synthesis of creative vision and technical expertise, earning recognition as a testament to Bian's dedication to design excellence.

Second prize: Filippo Andrighetto, Denmark
Filippo Andrighetto's "Veliero" bookshop embodies the essence of Scandinavian design, characterized by its use of natural and honest materials. Andrighetto's architectural background and passion for design converge in this project, underscoring his commitment to creating spaces that resonate with authenticity and functionality.

Third prize: Egoundesign, Italy
Egoundesign's "Voronoi" set of 3D printed brass cups draws inspiration from the art of "Stone Balancing" observed during a trip to Asia. Designed as a meditative and playful object, the cups combine functionality with aesthetic appeal, reflecting the team's innovative approach to design and production.

Special mention: Collectif Mohamed Romani with Chems Eddine Mechri and Ahmed Bssila, Creative Tunisia
The ONAT lamp from the Fibra Collection by Collectif Mohamed Romani, Chems Eddine Mechri, and Ahmed Bssila received a special mention for its exceptional craftsmanship and creative expression. The designers will embark on a residency in China as guests of the Rong Design Library, further enriching their creative journey.
