Photo report Ambiente and Christmasworld

Records broken: 'Germans keep a tight grip, but international visitors compensate'

Ambiente and Christmasworld, held together with Creativeworld, break records. The trade show trio featured a total of 4,928 companies from more than 170 countries. They showcased their collections on over 360,000 gross square meters. The number of exhibitors increased by 10% compared to last year. Over 140,000 visitors came to the mega fair in Frankfurt am Main. The motto was "Celebrating Business Together".

Take a look at the photo report made by our Dutch partner Wonen360 at Ambiente and Christmasworld, featuring team and product photos of Dutch and Belgian exhibitors.

The reactions of participating companies from the Benelux were mixed. Christmasworld exhibitors were almost all positive about the trade fair. Ambiente participants were less unanimous. Most were enthusiastic, but not everyone. The Germans' cautiousness played a significant role. In several organisations, it was mentioned that they were extra careful with placing orders this year. The German interior sector suffered a blow in the past year after the country entered a recession.

Internationalisation of visitors
At the same time, other Ambiente exhibitors report that international visitors made up for this gap. Writing orders to companies from Panama, Uruguay, or Kazakhstan was commonplace during the fair. Internationality had also increased significantly: three out of four trade visitors came to the trade fairs from abroad. With a five percent increase in the number of international visitors, the trade show trio exceeded the 2023 result. Germany topped the list of visiting countries this year. Italy and China took the second and third places in the top five visiting countries, followed by the Netherlands and the United States.

Strikes
Due to strikes in the German rail traffic, visiting the fair was somewhat hindered. As expected, visitors from distant countries were more represented than from surrounding countries such as France and the Alpine republics (Austria and Switzerland), who travelled to the event by train. Dutch and Belgian participants also noted that the last two days (Monday and Tuesday) were busier than usual. That's when public transport employees had resumed their work.

Date shift
The trade fairs Ambiente, Christmasworld, and Creativeworld will take place in the Frankfurt trade fair complex next year. However, they will be shifted to early February to ensure that important global trade show dates are aligned. All three fairs will start on a Friday. Creativeworld will last four days. Ambiente/Christmasworld will be held from February 7 to 11, 2025.
