Freifrau unveils new Marie armchair in Milan

Freifrau recently presented the Marie lounge chair at Milan Design Week. The openness of the Marie design by Hoffmann Kahleyss Design, reminiscent of arms outstretched in welcome, conveys a sense of comfort and security.

This gesture is accentuated in the newly introduced spacious lounge version of Marie, which offers added comfort with an integrated rocker-tilt mechanism, easily operated by a lever on the side. The armchair is also characterised by the loose upholstery of the backrest shell, which is held in place by a delicate tubular steel frame.

In contrast to the chair, the frame of the Marie armchair is detached from the static structure of the base, which is a central column with a cross foot. The new design is complemented by a matching footstool.

Another new addition to the range is the Marie chair in the version without armrests and with a
wooden frame, which gives the chair a unique and cosy character. The less expansive version without armrests is also characterised by openness and invites both relaxation and communication. The newly introduced wooden frame, which is available for Marie with or without armrests, radiates warmth and cosiness.

The curved backrest frame creates an exciting dialogue with the cross frame that holds
the softly rounded legs together. The new frame is made of oak wood, which is refined
with various finishes (natural oiled oak, white oiled oak, walnut stained, black lacquered).
The characteristic loose upholstery of the backrest shell, which is accentuated by an all-round
bracket, also characterises the new designs. In true Freifrau style, a wide variety of fabrics and leathers are available for the upholstery. The cover of the backrest shell is closed with a zip and screwed onto the frame together with the supporting plywood shell on the inside. This makes it possible to change the cover and the chair can be easily dismantled into its individual components at the end of its service life.
