Carpetright, a carpet retailer, has confirmed that it has again fallen victim to a cyberattack in the UK, adding to a recent incident in Europe.
The attack is believed to involve malware aimed at gaining unauthorised access to customer data. However, Carpetright stated that its network was shut down, emphasising that the virus was contained before any data breach occurred.

Reports indicate that the attack affected both staff and hundreds of customers, with some employees allegedly unable to access their payroll information. A notice on Carpetright's website and social media platforms has informed customers of technical difficulties experienced during the week. As a gesture of gratitude for their patience, the retailer is offering an additional 10% discount on all in-store orders placed before Friday, 26 April.
Earlier this year, on 19 February, Carpetright experienced a similar data breach in its Netherlands and Belgium divisions, potentially compromising hashed passwords. The breach affected the backend of Carpetright's website, potentially exposing customer names, addresses, and contact details, including those of approximately 30,000 Carpetright account holders.
In a statement, Carpetright apologised for any inconvenience caused and assured that it was unaware of any impact on customer or employee data. The company stated that it is currently testing and resetting systems while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
