On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2024, Roche Bobois unveils the collection Bamboo Mood, created in collaboration with the Chinese designer Jiang Qiong Er.

For this collection, the designer wanted to evoke bamboo, a powerful symbol of essential values in Chinese culture: it represents integrity, flexibility, simplicity, and harmony. Jiang Qiong Er reinterprets these values poetically, often with a touch of whimsy and always with elegance, envisioning a complete collection consisting of a sofa, a folding screen, a console, coffee tables, as well as rugs and ceramics.

The Bamboo Mood collection, designed by Jiang Qiong Er, features a folding screen that is a true sculptural piece. Its very contemporary design evokes cut and perforated bamboo stems. Available in 2, 3, or 4 panels, it is dyed throughout its thickness, giving it a unique color dynamic that changes depending on the viewing angle.

The sofa, with its fluid lines, invites contemplation and serenity. It is upholstered in stretchy embossed fabric, with discreet celadon or coral-coloured threads subtly accentuating the curves of its backrests.

The coffee tables gracefully evoke bamboo stems, with their veins delicately accentuated in gradients to rhythmically underscore the oblique line. Available in monochrome lacquer or with a wood finish tabletop, they come in various colours.

Finally, the rugs depict stylised bamboo stems in a vibrant yet delicate polychrome.

'Bamboo has always fascinated me. Elegant, resilient, fluid, and peaceful, it responds to the force of the wind with insolence and playfulness. Bamboo bends but does not break. It whispers, trembles, filters light, and plays with shadows. Timeless. Fragile as it may seem, it serves as scaffolding for the tallest towers in the world. I designed this new Bamboo Mood collection as an invitation to travel, an endless source of inspiration, poetry, and dreams.'
