At the inaugural edition of Salone Raritas, part of Salone del Mobile.Milano, Draga & Aurel collaborate with Salviati to present Affinity in Light, a project centred on material experimentation and the relationship between glass and light. The exhibition is located in Hall 09 at Rho Fiera Milano.

Curated by Annalisa Rosso, with exhibition design by Formafantasma, Salone Raritas debuts as a new platform dedicated to collectible design, antiques, and limited-edition works. The initiative reflects a broader focus on high-end craftsmanship within the 64th edition of the fair.

Affinity in Light continues Draga & Aurel's ongoing research into transparency and materiality. Developed in close collaboration with Salviati's master glassmakers, the project investigates the expressive potential of glass beyond its functional role. Through experimentation with traditional furnace techniques, the designers explore how process and material behaviour influence form.

Within this context, light is treated as an active component in the design process, shaping both the physical qualities of the material and its visual perception. Rather than producing fixed or uniform objects, the works emphasise transformation, with surfaces that retain traces of heat, gesture, and making.

The collaboration highlights the intersection of contemporary design and artisanal production, drawing on Salviati's heritage in Murano glassmaking while introducing a more experimental, process-driven approach.

Presented within the framework of Salone Raritas, the project contributes to ongoing discussions around collectible design and the role of craftsmanship in contemporary practice, positioning glass as both a technical medium and a conceptual element within design research.
