IKEA U.S. has announced the opening of new Plan and order points with Pick-up locations in California and Pennsylvania, alongside relocating its Arlington, Virginia, planning centre to a more accessible Georgetown site. These city-centre locations are smaller than traditional IKEA stores and allow customers to consult with staff on complex home furnishing solutions, including kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms.

The Pennsylvania site at The Promenade at Granite Run will occupy 3,755 sq. ft., while the Escondido Promenade location in California will cover 798 sq. ft., both scheduled to open in Spring 2026. Although customers cannot take items home immediately, IKEA staff will arrange delivery or facilitate collection from the Pick-up locations.
The Georgetown relocation, effective from 5 November, will offer planning consultations, with Pick-up services becoming available in the following months. The existing Arlington site will remain operational until 30 November.
These initiatives are part of IKEA U.S.'s broader strategy to increase accessibility and enhance the customer experience. Investments include improvements to e-commerce, Click & collect services, TaskRabbit assembly, and new benefits for IKEA Family members. The approach aims to provide greater convenience and flexibility for both in-person and online shoppers, meeting demand for personalised home furnishing solutions.
