Sofa retailer Poltronesofà is nearing completion of a £57m overhaul of 96 UK stores, following its January 2024 acquisition of ScS Group. The transformation includes a modernised store layout, a redesigned sofa collection, and the launch of its "any sofa, any fabrics" concept, offering over 250,000 combinations across 66 models.

The group, which operates more than 310 stores across Europe and leads in markets such as Italy and France, used internal funds to finance the acquisition and transformation. Despite a challenging trading environment and one-off costs, the UK business reported revenues of £233m in the 11 months since the deal, with a near breakeven EBITDA and no bank debt.
Sales from the 60 stores refurbished in 2024 have shown "significant" year-on-year growth. The business has now exited flooring and dining to focus solely on sofas. UK staff have received extensive training via Poltronesofà's 'university' in Italy, totalling over 650 hours.
With the final 15 stores set to be completed by early August, the company anticipates a strong 2026, projecting it will be "highly profitable" following a full year of trading under the new model. The business is already seeing renewed order growth across updated sites.
