Germany’s inflation rate provisionally holds at +2.0% in June 2025

Germany's inflation rate is expected to hold steady at +2.0% in June 2025 compared with the same month a year earlier, according to provisional data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). This stability masks ongoing cost pressures that will continue to affect the furniture, interior design, and broader business sectors in Europe.

While overall consumer prices remained unchanged from May to June 2025 (0.0% month-on-month), the core inflation rate, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, is estimated at +2.7%. This is a crucial figure for interior businesses, as it reflects sustained price increases for goods and services that directly impact manufacturing, retail, and installation costs in the furniture and interiors markets.

Services inflation, which includes sectors such as logistics, installation, and design consultancy, remains elevated at +3.3% year-on-year. This persistent rise suggests that interior companies may face continued upward pressure on labour and service expenses, a key factor in project budgeting and pricing strategies.

Goods inflation, relevant to furniture manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials, is more moderate at +0.8%, down slightly from earlier in the year. Energy prices, which affect production and transportation costs, have declined by -3.5% year-on-year, easing some cost burdens but not enough to offset rising service and core goods prices.

The Federal Statistical Office states: 'The inflation rate excluding food and energy, often referred to as core inflation, is expected to stand at +2.7% in June 2025.' This figure is especially significant for the interior sector, where material costs and ancillary services represent substantial portions of overall expenses.

For businesses and consumers alike, understanding these inflation dynamics is critical. Destatis offers a Personal Inflation Calculator (in German) enabling users to tailor inflation estimates based on their specific consumption patterns, a useful tool for interior companies planning budgets or advising clients.

Final inflation data for June 2025 will be published on 10 July 2025, providing a more detailed breakdown relevant to supply chains, procurement, and pricing strategies across the furniture and interior design industries.
