Parador predicts flooring’s style renaissance for AW25

Global flooring brand Parador has unveiled its vision for Autumn/Winter 2025, spotlighting a season where flooring is reimagined as a central design element, not just a structural necessity. As homes continue to evolve into expressive, multi-functional sanctuaries, flooring choices are stepping into the spotlight, setting the tone and atmosphere of interiors like never before.

'Homeowners and designers are looking for floors that do more than support a room, they help define it, setting the tone for the entire space,' says Frank Petersen, Head of Product Development at Parador.

At the forefront of this shift is the concept of "flooring as a fifth wall." As Petersen explains, 'This autumn, there's a growing appetite for expressive flooring – we're seeing renewed interest in herringbone, chevron, and even mixed-width or multicoloured plank formats. It's all about storytelling underfoot, treating your floor as a "fifth wall."'

This season also sees a surprising marriage of styles, the warmth of mid-century modern blending with the stark minimalism of brutalism. The result? A grounded yet characterful aesthetic defined by texture and tactility. 'What's fascinating this season is the fusion of mid-century warmth with the raw, sculptural feel of brutalism,' Petersen continues. 'Flooring plays a key role, think smoked, brushed woods and concrete-inspired tiles with a slightly lived-in finish that balances restraint with rugged personality.'

Another dominant trend is the move toward scale. Larger format flooring, whether planks or tiles, are being embraced for their visual expansiveness and practical elegance. 'Larger planks and tiles are trending, creating a seamless and open feel in spaces,' says Petersen. 'Wide plank laminate and engineered wood floors minimise seams, enhancing a room's sense of space. This trend is also evident in vinyl flooring, where large-format tiles reduce grout lines and maintenance.'
