Audo Copenhagen, a brand known for its collections of furniture, lighting and accessories that merge Danish design tradition with a global perspective, concluded its exhibition Monuments on Friday, June 20th, during this year's 3daysofdesign festival. Installed throughout the company's flagship Audo House in Copenhagen's Nordhavn district, the project explored the intersection of classical form and contemporary design through curated spatial environments, product displays and commissioned artworks.

Developed in collaboration with Norm Architects and art director Christian Møller Andersen, Monuments positioned proportion, symmetry, and restraint as thematic through lines, aligning with principles from Neo-classicism and reframing them within the language of minimalism.
'The exhibition payed tribute to the enduring presence of monumental form, interpreted through both historical and modern lenses,' said Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen of Norm Architects. 'This balance of opposites is central to Monuments, where restraint can be as powerful as ornamentation, and silence carries as much weight as expression.'

Each section of Audo House, including its café, concept shop, exhibition rooms and courtyard, functioned as a discrete yet connected environment, offering a sequence of spatial narratives. Existing Audo products were presented alongside newly commissioned works and curated art installations, resulting in a layered composition that blurred distinctions between domesticity and gallery context.
Fourteen contemporary artists contributed to the exhibition. Among them, Henrik Glahn, Fanny Schultz, Linda Weimann and Nicolas Mackelberg created new site-specific works responding directly to Audo's architecture. According to the company, these commissions 'reflect the architecture and atmosphere of Audo's interiors, responding with a thoughtful physicality that blurs the line between art, design and spatial experience.'

Ten additional artists presented works that examined sculptural form and material presence. The full list included Stine Regild, Touch with Eyes, Lucy Page, Milena King, Coseincorso, Freyja Lee, Morgan Stokes, Marina Mankarios, Kirsten Schrøder and Betina Stampe.
'In this context, both classical and contemporary pieces are treated as equal contributors to a shared language of design,' said Bjerre-Poulsen. 'They reflect a lineage of thought where function, beauty and restraint are held in delicate balance.'
The installation was positioned not as a historical retrospective, but as a spatial inquiry into how traditional ideals inform present-day practices. 'It is not a return to the past,' Bjerre-Poulsen noted, 'but a recognition of its continued relevance.'
Since May 2022, Audo Copenhagen has operated under the Flos B&B Italia Group, which also includes brands such as Louis Poulsen, Arclinea, Maxalto and Fendi Casa. The group focuses on international expansion of legacy brands with European cultural heritage in the high-end design sector.
Monuments was open to the public during 3daysofdesign from 18–20 June at Audo House, Aarhusgade 130, Copenhagen.
