According to the OPSS, the lamp's plug fails to meet the necessary constructional and dimensional standards set by BS 1363. This shortcoming poses a danger during normal use. 'The user could receive an electric shock when inserting or removing the plug from the socket,' the safety body stated.
The product has been found in breach of both the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994. In response, Wayfair has withdrawn the item from its marketplace.
