MSC imposes peak season surcharge on Europe to Oceania shipments

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced the implementation of a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) on all cargo transported from European ports to Australia and New Zealand. Effective from 15 June 2025, the surcharge will be US$175 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) and US$350 per forty-foot equivalent unit (FEU), remaining in effect until further notice.

The surcharge applies to shipments originating from various European regions, including Northwest Europe, Scanbaltic, West Mediterranean, East Mediterranean, Adriatic, Greece, and Turkey. This measure is part of MSC's strategy to manage increased demand during the peak shipping season and to maintain service levels across these trade routes.

Shippers and logistics providers are advised to account for these additional costs in their planning and budgeting for shipments from Europe to Oceania. For detailed information on the surcharge and its implications, stakeholders should consult MSC's official communications or contact their local MSC representatives.
