Swedish furniture design company Massproductions has launched its latest innovation, the Astro Chair, a sleek, sculptural reinterpretation of the traditional club chair. Designed by Massproductions' co-founder Chris Martin, the Astro Chair combines visual lightness with material efficiency, delivering a product that is as environmentally conscious as it is design-forward.

'The starting point was imagining how a contemporary club chair could be,' said Martin. 'I like the idea of a generous, enveloping chair, but I wanted to make one with a lighter look and feel. Replacing large volumes of fabric and foam with an elegant tube frame seemed to be the answer to me.'
The Astro Chair is characterised by its distinctive steel tube rings, drawing inspiration from planetary orbits. These orbital forms shape the external frame, supporting a fully webbed seat and back that reduces foam use while maintaining durability and comfort. This structural innovation contributes to both sustainability and visual refinement, establishing the Astro as a forward-looking staple in modern interiors.
Massproductions describes the Astro collection as offering 'a refined balance of sustainability, durability, and visual lightness.' The company notes that the bold silhouette and thoughtful construction provide 'a superior sitting experience wrapped in a sleek, orbit-inspired aesthetic.'
Buyers can select from 19 premium fabrics supplied by Romo, Kirkby Design, Kvadrat, Sahco, and Sorensen, with frames available in Pure Red, Black, or Ivory. Custom fabric options are also available upon request. The chair is made to order and ships within 4–8 weeks.
