The 32nd edition of Proposte, the premier international trade fair for furnishing fabrics, has concluded in the stunning surroundings of Villa Erba. Over three days, 78 exhibitors from 13 countries presented the latest in furnishing fabrics, curtains, trimmings, and wallcoverings, showcasing innovation and craftsmanship to a global audience of industry professionals.
Massimo Mosiello, Director of Proposte, stated:
'The final outcome is undoubtedly positive. Participation has been in line with previous editions, and exhibitors have enthusiastically stressed the premium quality of the buyers visiting the show. The international character of the fair continues to dominate, with around 75% of participants hailing from overseas, particularly from the United States and the United Kingdom, followed by France, Germany, Belgium, and Spain. Notably, this year saw the first significant participation from trade operators in Saudi Arabia.'
A highlight of this year's event was the collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Through the partnership with the ICE – Italian Trade Agency, Proposte successfully organised the participation of 27 international buyers from countries such as France, United States, New Zealand, Romania, Poland, and Lebanon. The fair also welcomed 10 international trade press journalists to cover the event.
The fair's closing also marked an important milestone with the election of Marco Parravicini, CEO of Parà, as the new President of Proposte. Reflecting on his new role, Parravicini said:
'Proposte is the international benchmark for excellence in the furnishing textiles sector – a flagship that must continue to attract top companies and visitors from around the world. As President, I will work to consolidate and further strengthen this positioning. I thank my predecessor Alessandro Tessuto, whose work has written an important chapter in the history of Italian textiles.'
Matteo Cavelli, owner of Mario Cavelli, was confirmed as a Board Member, alongside Alberto Paccanelli, CEO of Martinelli Ginetto Group and Honorary President of Euratex.
Paccanelli remarked:
'Proposte is a niche trade fair with strategic positioning that makes it essential for enhancing the entire furnishing textiles sector.'
In parallel, the success of Comocrea Interni, the trade fair for textile designers held alongside Proposte for the past three years, was also celebrated.
Stuart Sartori, President of Comocrea Interni, commented:
'We are proud to support Proposte, the most prestigious event in the sector. The fair fosters valuable connections between exhibitors and designers, often evolving them into long-term collaborations.'
The fair's continued success was also echoed by Claudio Taiana, President of Villa Erba S.p.A., who said:
'It is always a great pleasure and source of pride to support Proposte. For 32 years, the event has brought excellence in furnishing textiles and home living to Villa Erba. Proposte is a very precious asset for our region, with a tangible positive impact on the local economy.'
Looking ahead, Proposte 2026 will take place on May 5, 6, and 7, 2026 at Villa Erba, with agreements in place to hold the event at the venue through 2028.
Massimo Mosiello concluded:
'We are thrilled to confirm the next edition and renew our long-standing partnership with Villa Erba, reinforcing Proposte's position as the leading global fair for the furnishing textiles industry.'
