JYSK milestone marks new era of growth with more than 100 stores in Italy

A major retail milestone was reached on 11 April as three new stores opened simultaneously in Olbia, L'Aquila and Nocera Superiore for JYSK. This brought the company's store count in Italy to 102, marking the largest single-day expansion since its entry into the market in 2009.

All three stores opened at 9:30 am, representing a strategic move to boost national presence. With this achievement, the company is now present in all 20 regions of Italy, reinforcing its ambition to be "close to our customers", according to President & CEO Rami Jensen.

The day was commemorated at the Olbia store, where the Danish Consul in Sardinia was also in attendance. The expansion is seen as a testament to the strong performance of the Italian team and the growing demand for the brand's offering in the country.

The company began its Italian journey with just 46 stores in 2017. Commenting on the milestone, Country Director Cesare Bailo said: 'Today, we have passed 100, and that is a significant moment for me and my colleagues.' He noted the retailer's "strong market position" and "high customer satisfaction", but also emphasised the need for greater brand awareness, with new store openings playing a key role.

Looking ahead, the company plans to continue its rapid expansion. If targets are met, 16 new stores will be opened by the end of the 2024/25 financial year, closing on 31 August – the most ever opened in a single year in Italy.
