This surge has been driven by enhancements in marketing, brand communication, and customer retention. According to Garden Trading, the number of active customers is now +60% higher than the same period last year, while customer acquisition rose by +20%. The standout figure, however, is a +136% increase in customer reactivation, largely attributed to a new personalised letter campaign.
Managing Director Richard Bell stated: "We've placed a strong focus on aligning product strategy to increasing customer value – and it's paying off." He emphasised that the combination of aspirational product imagery and improved service levels has re-engaged lapsed customers.
New products played a significant role, with 35% of Q1 sales coming from lines launched in the past 12 months. Furniture sales rose by +240%, particularly in kitchen, dining, and living categories, while garden furniture soared by +370%, driven by strong sales of sofa sets, outdoor dining tables, and benches.
Category-wise, Garden grew by +115%, led by planters and storage; Home rose by +75%, boosted by textiles, kitchen accessories, and decorative pots; and Lighting increased by +55%, with high demand for outdoor lighting, glass pendants, and table lamps.
Garden Trading also reported steady growth in wholesale operations, reinforcing its status as a trusted supplier within the home and garden sector. The brand's sharpened message and expanded offering continue to attract and retain a growing customer base.
